Anna Chmiel

Anna Chmiel is a painter and multimedia artist, as well as an activist - one of the Rivers Sisters (Golczanka River from 2019). She seamlessly combines art with activism for nature, especially rivers. She focuses on consciously being in nature, creating visual and audio notes - sketches, paintings and field recordings, through a practice of deep listening. Anna Chmiel documents in the form of audio recordingsaudio recordings, , soundtracks of happenings of the Rivers Sisters. She helps build a network of contacts between artists, activists and scientists in Poland and within the group itself. On the basis of these relationships, a sail was created, with which the artist Michal Zygmunt sailed the rivers of Poland across, in the spring of 2023. Her artistic practice is enriched by analog animations, using water and oil paint(liquid light show), performed to music and sounds of nature. She is the author of solo and group exhibitions, and participates in collective art activities and plein-air events. Through the Rivers Sisters, she is associated with the Greenmind Foundation and the Save the Rivers Coalition.
