Painter, visual artist and environmental activist. Founder and leader of the River Sisters Collective. In the collective she is the Białka River. She is the author of the visual side of the River Sisters' happenings but also of a documentary film about the the collective. She conceived and organized the first protest in defense of the river, “Braids of the Białka,” together with the Bunkier Art Gallery in 2013. Rivers have become her love and passion. She has been a member of the Save the Rivers since its inception. She converts into the language of art, the difficult language of environmental experts. The author of many art projects, among the more important are “365 Trees” “6 Rivers.” Co-founder of the “Praying Mantis Collective” - an action in defense of Krakow Zakrzowek and the cyclical event on the Vistula “Water Critical Mass”. Co-founder of CSW Squirrel Association. In 2017 she initiated the action “Polish Mothers on logging” - against LEX Szyszko. Winner of many awards including the 2017 Polish Ecology Award and the Katarzyna Kobro Award in 2019. Cecylia Malik combines art and activism caring about the meaning and effectiveness of her own actions.
