Katarzyna Zabielska-Koczywąs (DSc, PhD, DVM) - an Ambassador of the “Girls to Science” programme - is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Veterinary Medicine, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, with 15 years of experience in cancer research. She established and she is currently the Head of the Laboratory of Experimental and Clinical Nanooncology. She obtained her DVM (2009), PhD (2013) and DSc (2019) at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. Her scientific work focuses on the possible use of nanotechnology (mainly gold nanoparticles) in cancer treatment. She also evaluates the use of different animal models in the development of new antineoplastic drugs. To broaden her knowledge and expertise, she has participated in international fellowships at Justus Liebig University Giessen (Germany), Utrecht University (Netherlands), Houston Methodist Research Institute (USA) and University of Turin (Italy). As an Ambassador of the “Girls to Science” programme, she promotes gender equality in science and actively supports women scientists at all stages of their scientific careers. She is a wife and mother of two lovely daughters. She enjoystravelling, canoeing and reading books.
